Where Is The God? Where are The Demons?
By Arsh Shakil Shaikh
I was walking down the river side,
When I saw a saint passing by my side.
I stopped so as to ask him a question,
A question by which the non-believers teased me,
And whose answer I could not decide.
I asked him in the same way as I was asked,
Pretty much blunt and impolite.
“Where is the God that you pray ,
And where are the demons whom you fear through the night.
To whom do you devote,
And whom do you ask for grace in your plight.
Or do you too possess the divine power of seeing beyond mortal sight.”
Then we stood facing each other for a moment that felt infinite.
Shaking his head and with a sigh, he replied.
“I don’t look out for them in the world in front of your sight.
For both God and demons have a divine place occupied,
A place so close to you,
But you still remain blind eyed.”
I eagerly asked about the place.
A temple, a church or a shrine?
But he again shook his head, this time with a smile.
“In you resides the God , in you crave the demons.
As both of them are just reflections.
Reflections of your love and desire,
It’s upon you, whom who aspire.
So now don’t pray to the illusion but the one that is the projection.”
