When the Time Comes, Will We Still Choose?

Sana, Pag Pwede Na, Pwede Pa

Written by: Rakhel Camhille Euvhi Pagsanjan

We met when our hearts were ready,

But life refused to make things steady.

The feeling was real, the connection true,

So why couldn't life make room for two?

With you, the world would fade away;

The simplest moments made my day.

No grand promises, no words rehearsed,

Just something beautiful, for better or worse.

If love were all that we would need,

Perhaps our hearts could simply lead.

But life has things we cannot change,

And love alone cannot rearrange

The lives we've built, the paths we take,

The difficult choices we must make.

They say the right love comes at the right time,

That fate will make the stars align.

But what if the love was never wrong?

What if the waiting simply took too long?

What if two hearts could recognize

A home in each other's tired eyes,

Yet stand beneath the same night's sky,

Still wondering when, and asking why?

I cannot blame the love we knew,

Or call a mistake what felt so true.

I only wish the world had been

A little kinder to what lived within.

Sana, pag pwede na, pwede pa.

I whisper the words, then turn away.

I hope when the day arrives at last,

We haven't become a love that's past.

I hope the waiting hasn't changed

The things we feel, the love we've named.

I hope the heart that once asked for time

Still finds its way back next to mine.

But time moves on; it will not stay

Just because two hearts must wait.

The one who waits still learns to live,

And has a life of their own to give.

There are dreams to chase, new roads to find,

And things that change a heart and mind.

No one should have to put life on hold,

Or let their future wait untold.

And that's the part that makes me afraid:

What if the love we have today

Survives the distance, the doubt, the years,

But loses its place when the door appears?

What if, at last, the road is clear,

And all the things that stopped us disappear?

What if I turn, and you're not there?

What if the chance comes, but you no longer care?

Still, I would wish this love for you—

The kind that feels both safe and true.

The kind that makes the ordinary shine,

The kind that says, your heart understands mine.

But not the waiting, not the pain,

Not hoping sunshine follows rain.

Not loving someone from afar,

And wondering if you'll ever be where they are.

I wish for love that gets to stay,

Not one that must keep asking, someday.

I wish for hearts that don't have to choose

Between the love they feel and all they stand to lose.

And if our time should come around,

If we can finally stand on solid ground,

I hope we meet with our hearts still free,

And you still want what you once wanted with me.

No promise that fate will see us through,

No guarantee of what time can do.

Just one small hope I hold on to:

When life says yes to me and you,

I hope your heart still wants it, too.

Sana, pag pwede na, pwede pa.

Because perhaps the hardest thing to bear

Is knowing the love was always there—

But when the world finally lets you choose,

You may have already learned to lose.
