When the Screen Went Dark

I held your phone with hands that used to trust;

The room grew cold beneath its gentle light.

My hopeful heart collapsed into the dust,

As every word stole warmth away that night.

Each message carved a wound too deep to hide,

Yet love refused to leave my broken side.

I traced the lines where promises had died,

Their careless laughter echoed through my mind.

The tears I fought no longer stayed inside,

While answers were impossible to find.

Your silence spoke far louder than your voice,

As if betrayal had become your choice.

I searched myself for reasons I had missed,

And continued every flaw I thought was mine.

Remembering each gentle, faithful kiss,

While reading words that crossed another line.

The mirror showed a stranger in my place,

With shattered hope still written on her face.

Yet every memory begged my heart to stay,

Because your smile had once been all I knew.

Though trust had slowly drifted far away,

My soul still reached its trembling hands for you.

How cruel that love can bloom where pain has grown,

And leave a faithful heart to bleed alone.

You may forget the messages you sent,

Or think that time will wash them all away.

But I recall the moment my heart bent,

And how the world turned colourless that day.

Some scars are quiet, hidden out of sight,

Yet wake with every lonely, sleepless night.

I still love you- that truth I cannot hide,

Though love alone cannot undo the past.

A wounded heart still carries silent pride,

And knows that broken vows were built to last.

If healing comes, it will begin with me,

For love is strongest when it sets us free.
