When I First saw Her
By V.Mahanth Krishna
It was a warm, sunny day, I remember, when
I first saw her, the sunlight, known for its
Splendour, complemented her fair complexion,
I was astounded and breathless.
Her sparkling eyes, shining through her glasses,
Puts the diamonds and coveted gems to shame.
Her gentle touch, soft and tender,
Makes the lotuses and lilies feel like stone.
As we talked, time was slowing down,
As we ate, even the simplest of morsels was a feast,
As we journeyed together, it filled joy in the most uninspiring places.
As I dreamt of her, I could sleep for nights on end.
People ask me, why I’m so into her, but in reality,
I have spent the last year wondering, but to no avail.
Is it because of her looks, her charm,
Her soul, her attitude, her humour?
Why pick a part, when every piece is perfect, I say.
As she caresses me with her soft and inviting words,
I shall have reached cloud nine, and stay there forever,
And wonder what would become of me if,
The star guiding me, lost its bright and warm light,
Then begins the eternal night.
