When A Dream Comes True

Mom, it was awesome!!!

I know what I want to do…. how I want my life to be

Roll out of bed, you have the field in sight

You center yourself, focus and play with all your might

What a life it would be Mom if that’s all I could do… all day

Prep myself to play football – day after day

I wish my dream comes true

Mom that’s all I want to do…..

You said this after the inter school tournament at RIMC in Dehradun

September 2013 Vasant Valley Days

You had won – you and your team

and you had every right to dream

August 2020 Evora, Portugal

I called you yesterday and asked – Son, how does the day go by?

New place, new season, new club – I do worry, I won’t lie

The new club has your name and the Indian flag by its side

That was last season too, no big deal you say, but I know you sense my pride

So, tell me how are things I ask, how is your place, where do you stay?

Its right on the field Mom, I can just roll out of bed and play

I just chill and play …. everyday

As I hear you I look skywards and close my eyes

It’s a blessing when your dreams unfold in real life

The magic in those words make all the strife worthwhile

Son, you chased your dreams with your eyes open wide

with steely determination and God Almighty by your side

Look how far you have come, we know it’s not been an easy ride

Now you are living your dream, you have found your ikigai

Never forget son, when a dream comes true

Kneel down and thank God to pay your gratitude,

Just remember with all your heart - that quiet prayer, that sincere wish

Your faith, the grit, the drive ; shall mystically replenish

You will then be ready to make a new wish and then go play

It’s all within you so dream big…make another wish and pave your way!
