What Was Once

By Sri Harshini

What was once wrecked,

Can never be restored,

What was once demolished,

Can never be built again.

What was once broken,

Can never be fixed.

What was once lost,

Can never be found.

What was once shattered,

Can never be brought back together.

The insults that were once thrown,

Can never be taken back.

The moments that were once memorable,

Are merely a déjà vu now.

The promises that were once mad,

Now have been broken.

The words that were once imprinted into my soul,

Now have been vanished making it so foul.

What once came into my life in the form of waves,

Has now been pulled away from me.

What was once given as a blessing,

Has now turned into a sin.

What was once loved,

Is now being loathed.

What was once adored,

Is now being disgusted.

He who was once a gem,

Has now turned into a stone.
