What is Love?

By Ayan Hossain

A touch of affection, a sigh of relief

Or the long wait for a glimpse of the one, I believe.

Maybe it is the ecstasy of life, the truest feeling

More valuable than any treasure, cannot be bound by any ceiling.

Maybe it is the comfort, maybe it is the safety

Or it can be the unconditional devotion that one offers to a deity.

Love is everywhere, love is behind every battle ever fought,

love is the embracement of nature; it is everywhere one has ever sought.

From the womb of a mother, to a lover’s arms

Love comes in many forms; it has many charms.

Love is majestic, true love forever stays

Our body may decay but the feeling never fades away.

Those are few lines: fewer if you have ever loved from the core,

Much to say for what I have said is just some stones in the shore.

If I lucubrate a fortnight writing about the truest of this kind

Still there will be much remained to be find.

The mighty, the miraculous, in many forms it come

A mother, a maiden or a fellow so handsome.
