What Is Evil?

By Pamela Ibarra

It is so easy to portray evil as an entity—the Devil, Satan, Lucifer, Demons. This entity becomes the cause of all human suffering, pain, and violence. It's easier for humans to materialize evil and avoid accountability.

But every seed you plant grows if appropriately nourished. The same happens with ideas. All it takes is one bad and evil thought to corrupt humans, society, and humanity.

What is evil? We have misjudged it. Evil is within us. We are the vessels.

But we are not good or evil. We are human. The concept of evil invented by humans is just an excuse to escape the harsh truth that lives within us. Evil thoughts and ideas transform into egregores of consciousness—energies that harm and hurt people. Evil spreads easily when unchecked, enabled, and justified.

I see evil through the systems in place. Systems and ideologies that flourished from a rotten soul. Yes, people built and allowed these for their own benefit. Evil comes from selfishness, superiority, greed, and a lack of empathy. These would be my four requirements for evil to exist. These are not just character flaws.

They are the engines of colonization. Of genocide. Of slavery. And modern-day oppression.

They animate systems of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia.

Evil doesn't need horns or fire—it just needs people who refuse to care.

Evil is systemic, psychological, and collective. That sounds familiar, doesn't it? Hell. An eternal cycle of suffering and pain that has been perpetuated through generations and in systems. It thrives in dehumanization.

It thrives in apathy. And it multiplies when people protect their comfort at the cost of others' suffering. Strip it of its mythical cloak, and you see it clearly:

Fear weaponized —Power unchecked—Empathy denied.

Bowing down and submitting enables this energy to take control, strengthening the egregore and consuming everything in its path. How have we allowed ourselves to call everything in sight "evil “except real evil”?

Racism.

Sexism.

Homophobia.

Transphobia.

Xenophobia.

Islamophobia.

Allowing bigotry to run rampant in our governments and in our streets that is absolutely evil. Evil creates systems that target people. Criminalizes people. Dehumanizes people.

It invites and incites violence against people who are not "us. “As long as it's not us, we don't care.

Why should I care? Not my problem.

It spreads like wildfire—like a terminal disease.

It has been normalized, encouraged, supported, and applauded. Because if that evil isn't directed at me, I'm safe. I'm "good. “It won't happen to me.

Humans created their worst fears, projected them, and unleashed them upon the world—because they were too weak to confront them. They allowed the darkness to take over, then hid it behind the illusion of light and good. And the thing about evil is...It has everybody fooled.

Everyone is loyal to fear and control. They submit to its power, believing they're not like the others.

Until the mirror reflects it back—

And they don't like what they see.

The illusion will break.

There is always a price to be paid, and the scales of justice will even out.

Fear tactics lead to blind obedience and loyalty—

The tools that evil uses to spread.

Look around. See how it has been weaponized.

We are not evil in nature—

But we are in energy.

We are our thoughts. We are our soul.

The Soul Transaction

"Selling your soul to the devil" is not some supernatural contract.

It's the act of perpetuating the dehumanization of your brothers and sisters while feeding your ego.

That is when you sell your soul to the machine.

A machine built to oppress.

And you sold your soul for salvation. Salvation for yourself.

But that's the trick.

Those who are good in heart and pure soul are not looking to be saved.

They stay behind—to help.

To heal and protect.

It wasn't hard to find salvation at the expense of others. Collateral damage. It happens. What a paradox.

The "saviors" saved themselves.

"They were chosen." "Special"

Blinded by false illusions, they condemned those who weren't good enough to be saved.

-My soul was already saved the moment I chose others over myself. As I wish not to be saved.

I wish to be free.

Free.
