War, A Massive Graveyard of Lives
By Dominica J.S. Marbaniang
Underneath rubbles of merciless destruction,
Lay bodies of senseless emotions.
What once was
A pleasing sight to the eyes,
Now remain,
A Massive Graveyard of Lives.
Gone were the days when Families and friends met.
Gone were the days when
Happiness was celebrated.
In the most undignified ways of demolition,
Children bear the groundless Brunt of destruction.
Neither a piece of bread to devour,
Nor a drop of water to savour.
Gone were the days when Delicious cookies were baked,
Gone were the days when Festivals were a reason to celebrate.
Not a single soul cared for,
Nor a piece of grain spared.
No respect for women,
No sympathy for children.
In utmost fear and apprehension,
They lay there,
In the abyss of grief and confusion.
An eye for an eye,
No sympathy for human cry.
The intensity of bloodshed,
The one of a kind, the world dreads.
The lust for power,
The discriminatory use of vigour,
Not rooted in strength,
But in weakness forever.
How could a being
Born in grace be so heartless?
How could an innocent soul
Be considered worthless?
What could have been
A world of mutual upliftment,
Is now a battleground
Of war and devastation.
War, death and destruction.
Not victory, but only illusion.
War, a painful sight to the eyes.
War, a Massive Graveyard of Lives.
