Walt’s mystery:

I am never going to be rid of you, am I?

You are the mystery,

I am Walt.Whitman.

“I and this mystery, here we stand”

Parallel planes

Two red lines

The Great Divide

Always vast but never vast

Enough.

I felt that full stop.

I made it large and noticeable because in that moment it mattered to me.

It represents something I cannot have -

An Ending with you.

It feels comfortable to write about you again.

Because truly - in my mind - I never stopped…

I keep a place for you.

The hopeful and foolish fragment of my soul smiles wanly and puts her hand on the chair where you once sat.

I’ve been so good at erasing you.

The bitter and twisted part of me went at the page drawn in your likeness with unequalled ferocity.

“You must not love.”

I undid the strips of time wrapped around your corpse.

The Linen that once mummified you is now the dress I wear to parties.

I salvaged what I could.

I took the good out of a bad thing.

I cannot stand to look at the messages I sent you -

"What could have ever possessed me?!”

I feel insanity striding in and sitting at her desk in my mind.

She is cracking her knuckles and saying:

“Nicholas is coming so I best get to work”

Now I hope that your girlfriend breaks up with you in the spring.

Now I want to throw up all that I’ve eaten

And tan throughout exam season.

“Oh the possibilities”

I hope that we can be friends

* You and I

Because I’ve learned to live without you

And I know that no-one reading this

Believes the line above

But I know

I’ve learned to let go

* a little bit

I just dream of you sometimes
