വിയർപ്പിന്റെ ഗന്ധം

തോട്ടിപ്പണിയായിരുന്നെനിക്ക്

വിശപ്പ് തീർക്കുവാൻ വേറെ വഴിയില്ലായിരുന്നു

പണി കഴിഞ്ഞു വരുമ്പോൾ

ദേഹമൊട്ടാകെ നാറ്റം.

എന്റെ മക്കൾ

എന്നെ നോക്കി

“അച്ഛനെ തീട്ടം മണക്കുന്നു” എന്ന്

പറയും.

പിന്നീട്

അവർക്കാ ഗന്ധം

ശീലമായി.

പണിക്കു പോയി വരുമ്പോൾ

ഞാൻ അവർക്കു

പലഹാരവുമായി വന്നു-

അവർ അതാർത്തിയോടെ കഴിച്ചു.

വിശപ്പിന്റെ ഗന്ധത്തിൽ

വിയർപ്പിന്റെ ഗന്ധം

അവർ മറന്നു.

എന്റെ തോഴിക്ക്

വിയർപ്പിന്റെ ഗന്ധം

ഇഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു.

അവൾ എന്നെ

കെട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ചു

കിടക്കുമായിരുന്നു.

ഒരു നാൾ

പണിക്കിടയിൽ ഞാൻ

ശ്വാസം മുട്ടി ബോധം കെട്ട് വീണു.

പിന്നീട്

ആരെയും കണ്ടില്ല.

ഞാൻ അങ്ങ്

കിടന്നു പോയി.

ചുറ്റും

കരച്ചിൽ മാത്രം-

എന്റെ വേണ്ടപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ

ശബ്ദം മാത്രം.

എങ്കിലും

എന്റെ വിയർപ്പിന്റെ ഗന്ധം

ഇന്നും

അവരുടെ ഓർമ്മകളിൽ

ഉണ്ടാകുമോ?
