Love and wrath were of the same colour.

The same deep red.

Like a rose.

I suppose that's why I mistook your anger for affection

And when I saw the blood drip, I foolishly thought it was your overflowing love 

And not a river of violence.

I suppose that's why the sirens going off in my head sounded like violins

And the crimson on my lips wasn't lipstick
