Vested Temptations

Should I just slit my throat open,

Or take a bite of that fruit,

That's coated with the crimson of my blood,

And drenched with the passion of my heart?

Is my tongue that slithering Serpent,

That enticed Eve into sin,

Wreaking havoc in the depths of Paradise,

Throwing my ashes into that burning kiln.

I keep dancing around flames,

But who cares if its scalding?

The thrill of my bones burning,

And my heart ablaze,

It's that apple all to blame.

The velvet is the soft whispers you mutter in my ear,

Each bite enticing me for more,

The liquor that it contains,

Drowns me in dreams too hard to ignore.

Do I want more? Oh, do I-

I do.

Every bite, the touch of my lips.

Every bite, the skin on your neck.

The blood that flows is too sweet,

Every kiss, blinding bliss.

Will my eyes lose focus,

Or will it be my mind?

These games you play,

Really do put me in a tight bind.

Sculpt my ashes into statues

That sing eulogies of your name,

Tragedies are as delightful as,

A lover's heart that is too hard to tame.

Sins aren't considered sins-

Until they're acted upon,

Did Eve sin, for she acted upon her desires?

Or was it the serpent that made her want to burn in fires,

The pain too sweet for her,

Like the brambles of brier?
