Verskoon my gedagtes

My gedagtes dwaal saans

waar lig dun raak,

soos sterre wat vergeeet

hoe om terug te praat.

In stilte raak hulle luid,

woorde val in my kop

en klank begin rym

sonder dat ek dit stop.

Soms verstaan ek myself nie,

my vrae lê oop en kaal,

hulle klou aan mekaar

en val dan weer totaal.

Maar nie alles pas nie,

nie elke sin wil bly,

party gedagtes hardloop

en laat my agterbly.

Ek leer hoe om dit toe te laat,

die breek en die bou,

want selfs in wanorde

is daar iets wat my hou.

As ek fluister om verskoning

is dit nie vir wie ek is nie

maar vir die gedagtes

wat nog leer hoe om te rus.
