Versions of me

Hands shaking

Clenched fists

My body reacting before words could leave my mouth

Teary eyes, as I reach for the bottle

I drink so that I don’t feel

Feel the pain I have buried

Buried along with the versions of a hopeful me

A me that loved the summer breeze

A me that had dreams

Dreams of a life where everything was as it seemed

Oh baby

I could dream

But here I lay with the bottle next to me

Hoping to be seen

Hear me

See me
