Velvet Dew Upon Roses Lay

If things could be so simple,

So basic, so primal.

Archetypes would pale,

In comparison to desires subliminal.

There are always things,

Royalty like kings,

Jesters of joy and pride of queens.

But nothing is ever, as it seems.

In all its glory, an exception apart,

An emotion so gentle, straight from the heart.

Tugging at its strings like a harpist so clean,

And resonating an echo too lean.

Delicate, fragile or volatile behold,

Encourage not, what it may.

For all it does is make you smile,

Despite yourself, for a while.

A certain shine, fortune fortold,

Will bless your life, once till you're old.

Don't stop the chase, this silent craze,

And be left with nothing short of amazed.

"Love is a hallucination"

Some might say.

But it as real as velvet dew,

Upon roses lay.
