Unwilted Bond

(poem on women's safety in regard to Raksha Bandhan- an Indian Holiday)

A tie of trust and dreams,

All there to flower into screams.

What we’re promised is what we crave,

But will these light ever come out of the cave?

This bond is nothing— if they’ve been taught nothing,

Lose the alchemy of desire in each infiltrated mind that’s clutching.

O, how we dread to see the mind press its prints on us,

Someone ’s sister, mother, daughter ,

None is left behind,

The ache makes us hauntingly blind.

All thoughts made into a silent tomb,

A barren land is made where trust never dares to bloom.

This time, sister, we shall preach to leave the trap,

Teach them to define what we feel that’s love,

Know the flower of trust and never let it wilt,

Encase it with admiration that we helped you build.
