Until I Soar

By Tavisha Patel

As she drifts down from the sky,

A gentle draft wafts past

Carrying her comforting presence.

The luminous sun halos her

In golden light

And reveals her bright, beautiful, benevolent

Smile.

She reaches an arm around

And envelops my world

In the comfort of her love

Nourishes my soul

Into giving and caring and

Loving.

Her joy, faith, and determination

dare me to fly

As she guides me up

As far as she can go

And pushes me into the tumult

Up, up I go

As the wind tears at my skin,

Flies through my hair

And rushes past my outstretched arms

Until I soar

Free from bondage, free from limitations

Gliding upon the current

That she has spurred me into

Unbound from anyone and anything

On the earth

But through each gale, flurry, and breeze

I think of her

And through each tempest, squall, and downpour

I wish for her loving touch
