UNAPOLOGETIC ME

Oh! I was really a little bundle of joy,

I was born in Spring and was taught to enjoy,

Though I was a girl child to my parents, it did never annoy,

Rather they took pride in bringing me up as some Helen of Troy.

I turned out to become a young girl full of zest,

I learnt to thrive well and always gave my best,

I became a colourful bird who never liked to stay in her nest,

Life was fun, as I took it as a contest.

Then came those years when I was a young woman,

A woman with beauty and brains which was not common,

Unstoppable I was , life was a race and it was fun,

Getting decked up, being femine, no, I would not take a turn.

The turn had to come and it definitely came with a force,

A disciplined lady, a dutiful wife, a caring mother, do not know what was the source,

The “ Source” as I imagine now was the divinity inside me which changed my life' s course,

With passage of time, “ Did the Durga inside me reinforce? “

At crossroads now, when I am neither young nor too old,

The duties done, responsibilities fulfilled, once again I am quite bold,

I am thrilled that I see the opportunities manifold,

My passion and need to relive life, I just cannot withhold.

From standing for hours in line, now I am trying to be online,

From struggling to create an identity, now I am trying to make an e-mail id,

From accepting and adapting to hormones, now I am freely using the chrome,

I could be a fighter woman yesterday but proudly I am unapologetic today.
