Two Moons
By Parvati Uppala
Why are there two moons tonight
One in the sky, one in my sight
The sky-bound shines light, but you stand spotless
The moon in heavens feels exorbitantly jealous
For ages it boasted for being the one
Sole ruler of the midnight’s throne
But now it is eclipsed in fear
To see a rival beauty so near
Moonlight filters through branches’ lace
To steal a glimpse of the spotless face
It slips and stretches, moving tip toe
Craving to mirror the grace you bestow
The river whispers in its endless flow
Shoreline wanders where salt winds blow
For traces of your presence to behold
To kiss your shadow, the one to hold
The echo rustles through towering trees
Stealing an evening dressed in breeze
You are like fire, a blazing vision to see
You are like breeze, a gentle touch to me
I will guard you in my eyes, away from crowd
If that feels insane, I will wear it proud
No words suffice to express your beauty
Grander than tales sung through eternity
