Two in a kind
I am a shell despite the two different people in my blood
A shell of a person that’s a culmination of two
Two tongues two cultures two colours and hues
That is probably one more than you
My skin is like haze
I float in your space
From one place to another I drift and suffuse but not in the air you’d like to inhale and you breathe me away
Where do I belong if I’m taint and I taunt and I’m a culmination of two that constantly broaches the question of who are you
I am melting and it’s unnecessary
If I were water I’d come from the sea that goes up the beaches in the north east and up those in the south east
I am melting between the seam of two
Two tongues two cultures two colours and hues
I melt between that seam and it falls apart like if it were a stitch in your cheek because I’m struggling to hold on to both
I am ice that stings and there is no in between
I have to be one of the two but
I’m neither just one of those things cause they fall and it’s bleak and you ask who are you
I am sergeant pepper
I sit on my own and am alone turned lonely in my field of forever
The worms in the grass and the flies in the air are indifferent
The space is wide and the sky doesn’t lear
My skin is white and my accent unclear
But I’m not one of the two
Neither of the
Two tongues two cultures two colours and hues
So in my strawberry field of forever you run up and ask unlike the bugs in the grass
Who are you
I am the grains of sand that don’t hold in your fist
I am the understanding that falls from your grasp when the slash on the form doesn’t allow me to be who I am
I become the ‘others’ on a form for the race I was born
I become ‘others’ because I am not one of the two
I am not one of a culmination of
Two tongues two cultures two colours and hues
I am both on paper, I am the red dotted line under the two of what my parents are
But I can’t claim just either so what do I do when you ask
Who are you
I am a whistle that stings your ear
I am sharp and clear and won’t disappear if you want me as one you get none at all
I am the two, the
Two tongues two cultures two colours and hues
I am both and if that’s a problem
If I am a culmination of two that are each their own and they put it on me to be both
That is what I’ll do
And if you half me and put in either of the two that won’t claim me like they would a mix of meat in ham
I’ll sit on my own and sew the seam above me like a tent and continue to be who I am
I am a culmination of two
I am both
I am two in a kind
I am two tongues two cultures two colours and hues
That is what I say to those who ask
Who are you
