Twisted

Am I the villain or the hero full of glory?

Why does it have to be one or the other

Everyone is a hero in their story

And the villain in another

As the wind bawled, as I played in the park

Where I saw my friend hiding alone

Crying as loud as a whale, in the dark

Alone she groaned and moaned for reasons unknown

Sniffling a river of tears flooding her face

I sat by and asked what was amiss

Quiet as a mouse she responded, frozen in place

I listened to her story and followed in bliss

I helped her feel better

As we talked through the evening

Like pen pals passing letters

Soon she stopped grieving

But to others, I left them to help her

They were hurt over my action

They looked at me like a saboteur

Yet I don't notice their reaction

To them, I was the villain

Yet that's not the only time

There were other times I was the villain

One that happened in the daytime

Another memory, one I don't wish to keep

When I laughed at my classmate,

cause I didn't want to be the black sheep

Looking back it doesn't feel great

A hero doesn't have to fly

There are heroes everywhere

Just like villains aren't always the bad guy

We just aren't always aware

Am I the villain or the hero full of glory?

Not knowing if it’s a blessing or a curse

My life is full of stories

Some better, others worse
