True riches

True riches don’t come from having money,

More than you can count.

True riches come when we recognise blessings,

Of both a small and large amount.

True riches are in the values you hold;

The way you treat others with no thought

Of self-gain or praise,

For true riches can never be bought.

True riches stem from the deep love

And connections that we share;

The things we do for others,

That show we really care.

True riches are made of memories,

That we will forever hold

In our hearts, and treasure;

Through our youth to when we’re old.

True riches come from sharing

The light that shines within,

With all those we meet.

That’s where true riches begin.

True riches come from giving

That which we have away,

To those who will never have

The ability to repay.

True riches come from seeing

The bigger, better picture.

Leaving others in a better space;

Believing they’re a winner.

True riches are felt deep within,

And can never be erased.

Because, if there’s one thing I know;

It’s that true riches are heart based.
