Tricky Temptations

You close your eyes 

You see things you don’t want near

You close your eyes again

Hoping to see nothing but endless black

Feel some peace at the end of the day

Slowly, and very slowly, 

Your mind betrays

And you see people you shouldn’t get close to 

But couldn’t succeed in letting go…

The minute hand and the hour hand form a troupe

Chimes at distant, in unison

To convey you a wishful message

“Keep your eyes open

Might that hold traps at bay”.

Having received the message

You open your eyes

Look around - everything near you

As minutes tick by

Your eyes start a search party

To look at something new 

And yeah! Interesting of course…

The search party continues 

Only to stop at the start point

Meanwhile, the thoughts peep seeking a grand entry!

The defeated search party in exhaustion 

The actively flowing unwanted thoughts 

Throws one other tricky game- the temptation!

The actual game begins

You and your mind IN

The mind slayer pulls a smooth play

Not with the game

But the real game (YOU)

Your winnings- a mirage

It winning over you- for real

The game goes one-sided

A part of you yet fights 

Fights back…to save you

From the trap within you!

The tricky temptations 

Wearing an amicable disguise

Feasts on you, now and then

Not because it is a monster

But earnestly wanting you to be a biggest DEMON-

A demon fueled by temptations, 

Sways by with enormous uncontrollable powers…

The fights become wars

And the war gets long

In the end,

When that tiny flicker of good burns in you

You win the monster

And you become its TEMPTATION!
