Treat You Better

A girl as small as a violet,

Pulls me with more impact than that of the earth

This was the physics of love I have heard

Never thought I’d be able to live it,

But you proved me so erroneous

Tripping into your universe,

My best mistake ever

Were you aware of your royalty in my heart?

You were not, of course

Pulled me out of the dark void,

Yet so oblivious to my feelings

What did you expect, darling?

I have been made to be yours

You told me that you wanted him,

Was he even worth it?

Isn’t it mortifying,

To love someone who doesn’t do the same?

It’s something only you and I know

I often remember when I first met you,

You wouldn’t stop talking and I was lost,

Lost in your foolish thoughts

Made me fall in love with you,

But at what cost?

I couldn’t have you anyway

Our surroundings became blur,

And all I could see was you

But you saw him

“Why am I not him?” I often thought

He broke your heart then,

Left you in pieces,

And no one was there for you

I didn’t know what you were going through,

Couldn’t you have told me?

Your efforts pulled me out of the darkness,

But you’re stuck there now,

Let me help you, my love

“You love me, don’t you?” you had asked,

“That’s my problem.” I had said

We were almost happy,

When he came running back to you,

Told you that he loved you,

A white lie, it was

You still wanted him,

What could I have done,

Other than encouraging you to be with him?

Because I didn’t love to seize you

I didn’t think twice about it,

If loving you meant letting you go,

If that’s what made you satisfied,

Then I was prepared to sacrifice it all

Little did I know,

You didn’t love him

It wasn’t late when you had realized it

That I was the one who could treat you better.
