Too Good To Be True; Once
By Suhani Gupta
Beneath the skies where dawn once softly bloomed,
A cry now echoes, Earth's sorrow resumed.
Where emerald green once graced the land,
Now echoes rise, a desperate stand.
The trees, the forests, all weep for help,
Beneath the surface, suffocated kelp.
Wildfires reign, the jungles no more,
Shocking Mother Earth to her core.
In plastic’s clutches, marine life declined,
Kept from realisation, Earth’s children became blind.
All mishaps were simply ignored,
But what happened next no one can afford.
The oceans turned wild, and tsunamis began ruling,
We didn’t change, though destruction, it was fueling.
All the trees demolished; development, isn’t it?
Seeing nature disrespected, Mother Earth almost quit.
The sight, the light, the plight, all unbearable,
‘I love Mother Earth, ’ we said, thinking everything’s stable.
In reality, nobody cared,
How Mother Earth suffered, how she was scared.
Today, if we don’t come to our senses,
We would have to incur great expenses.
Respect her, her love, her nature and land,
For if she is gone, we won’t have anything in hand.
Her breath, the breeze, her pulse, the sea,
Treat her kindly, let her be free!
With every footprint, let's tread gently on her skin,
In unity let's rise, a pledge to heal, and to win!
