When you lose someone
A new life is at hand.
When you lose someone
More memories are still made.
But the thing about losing someone-
Life after them doesn't feel real.
It's bland, boring, lifeless.
When you lose someone
The memories don't feel whole
A void is always found.
The greater the loss
The bigger the void,
Hiding memories of memories.
When you lose someone
Passion feels useless
Hobbies make no sense
Days are longer than ever
And nights don't seem to end.
Every breath is burdensome
Every movement, heavy.
You slip away into nothingness
With eyes glassy, mouth agape.
When you lose someone
A part of you is gone as well,
But the thing about losing someone-
There's still parts of you left
Healing away the massive void.
When you lose someone
A new version of you
Comes to life.
The void is smaller with time
And memories are clearer.
You see them in dreams,
In memories of the past
Even those of future
As you remember them each day.
When you lose someone
You don't really lose them.
They were etched
Onto the walls of your mind
Long ago,
So you may never lose them.
