To Kill A Poet
By Annalisha Dutta
i. Take out any poem of their's and start criticizing it. Let your words flow and be like venom. Spit it out like a foul taste in your mouth and let it linger in the air for a little longer.
ii. Let their verses fall on deaf ears and their musings go unheard. Let their sleepless nights go to waste and let the tears they shed back onto her face. Let their demons alive again and let their worst nightmare come true. Let their power go raw and let their words shatter into mere syllables meaning nothing at all.
iii. A poet's heart is dipped in ink. Spill that ink in thin air and let it disappear. Let it dry fast and leave their poems unwritten. Let it smudge their writings covering any sign of emotion on the paper. Let their ink spill on the page and bleed through their notebook erasing everything of them that ever existed.
iv. Tear their letters. Burn them down to flames. Crumble it up and throw those feelings in their face like the ink that they wasted. Let all the color in their face drain out and let them turn pale. Wait for their eyes to water at first, and watch as their hearts wither away. Burn down their letters and you'll see the poet's soul among the ashes. Tear it up and there, you've tore apart their chest.
