Where are you,

My long lost flame?

I am still searching the crowd for you,

Guessing your name.

You drift through my dreams like fleeting snow,

Leaving me numb when you finally go.

I try to write you the perfect line,

But I'm chasing a shadow I cannot define.

I know I am a paragon of imperfection,

But does that make me unworthy of affection?

I polish my soul and my vessel each day,

Hoping our paths will align in some way.

I know my mind is prone to sway,

But for you, I’d throw the rest of the world away.

I won't ruin myself just to prove this is true,

But I’d surrender my final heartbeat for you.

Are you also waiting for me,

My long lost dame?

Or is it just,

Me

Seeking your name?
