To Grieve and To Grow

Sometimes I close my eyes and see,

Your smile and all you used to be,

Your laughter, a whisper of grace,

Your sweet embrace, time cannot erase.

Aching hearts filled with sorrow,

Seeking solace in each tomorrow.

Blurry eyes and the broken cries,

Of mine and all you left behind.

Though you’ve journeyed beyond this earthly shore,

In my mind you’re forevermore,

With every sunset that paints the sky,

I feel your presence, ever high.

Every dawn, a step anew,

However, I know,

What is life?

If not to grieve and to grow?
