To Everyone At a Crossing Similar to Mine

By Gayatri

To everyone at a crossing similar to mine,

Avoid falling in love which will hurt you with time,

But if you feel like it's inevitable and true,

Just lay back and let it happen to you.

Let it happen to you,

Even when you know all it will do

Is carefully tear you apart piece by piece,

Will slowly, very beautifully, destroy you,

And turn your life to an aesthetic as it is.

So let it happen to you,

Even when you know,

It can bring doubts and pain,

And make you feel incomplete,

Know that there's no obligation,

To think very well of it,

For what's more humane,

than to love for the hell of it.

And if the world ever blames you for it,

Tell them it's yours to have, it's yours to keep;

Blame it on the stupid heart's way

As if you had no role to play.

Don't shy away from it, it’s not your fault,

Don't lock it away or keep it in a vault;

Instead, be the one who flaunts love,

Because after all, the heart,

it wants what it wants, love.
