To Be Or Not To Be

On a cloudy night, while I was walking my dog,

It started to rain, and I saw a jumping frog.

The sweet smell of earth left me mesmerized,

By the beauty of mother nature, I was hypnotized.

But my happiness didn’t last for long,

Because something disturbing interrupted the rain song.

While walking unconsciously, I stepped on a dirty rag,

And then on my leg sat a floating plastic bag.

This got me wondering, what have we done,

In polluting the planet, where’s the fun?

If we continue committing this nasty sin,

Then where shall live the next of kin?

In sky there’s only smoke, not a single cloud,

Is this what is making us proud?

While waste increases and industries rise.

It is our future that is being compromised.

What shall a father say to his daughter,

When they discover dead fish floating in water?

Or go on a picnic and spread out your mats,

And there you witness lying, dead bats.

People only talk about global warming,

But better take this as your last warning!

Because this might be a war without blood,

But rising sea level will bring an unexpected flood.

We don’t stop polluting rivers, saying that we’ll think,

But won’t realise till there’s nothing left to drink.

With so much air pollution and acid rains,

It is our future that’s going into drains.

But we still have time to come together and rise,

And not let our children pay our price

Of what we have done to mother nature,

And prove that we are not the worst creature.

Let’s build a future, not clumsy but clean

Where streets are maintained and forests are green.

A future which is reality and not just a story,

Where our children thank us, and we don’t say sorry.

A future with safe, clean and green construction,

Where no tree but factories undergo destruction.

A future with social and eco-friendly trends,

Where countries are united, and enemies are friends.

So let’s come together before humans fall,

To be or not to be… its now your call.
