I met her in January

We kissed in February

And before the end of March

We kissed under an arch.

In the mild heat of April

I decorated her pony with daffodil

And by the arrival of May

I felt she was here to stay.

Though the summers were rough in June

A surprise proposal proved most opportune

We witnessed the rains of July

From under the same roof and sky.

But, on my birthday in August

She broke my absolute trust

When she confessed that since last September

She had a boyfriend, whom she dumped in October.

But she couldn’t forget their pleasures next November

And they never separated since that December.

Now wishing that she was never here

I wake up to an empty house on the dawn of a new year.
