Time Is Relative

By Megha Das

His point of view-

1st minute.

He took a deep breath and stole a last long glance at the building of his beloved.

It was more than a building to him, it was a sacred structure, now a sepulchure that will store his dying sentiments.

He sighed and turned slowly towards the cab, his feet feeling as if the earth beneath is rotating a little rapidly; As if the earth had engulfed the love she had for him, and with the enhanced energy extracted out of his thrown emotions, the earth is swirling in ecstasy.

He walked towards the cab.

He paused, sheepishly smiled

upon realizing the iteration of e's in his thought.

The smile bore

the signs of sweet scars

it was going to leave on his heart.

But he was too torn to think of any way out of it this time.

He knew it was over.

He dragged his legs further, dream-like state inside his head, playing the camera roll of the good old times he had had with her.

It was like a sword through his stomach to think about those insanely sweet memories.

He was hurting.

He managed to open the door of the cab

when the 4th minute passed by. It took him courage

to push himself into the cab

as it hit him again

that they were really done.

5th minute flew.

5 minutes: Seemed like an eternity.

Driver’s point of view-

5 minutes, the cab driver passed a flying glance at the passenger with a pale face, turned back to the wheel, tapped his fingers on the wheel, sang da da da dum dum a couple of times, and there! 5 minutes had done a sprint and the passenger was in!

Good to go.

Same 5 minutes.

Time. is relative.
