Through a Shattered Lens.

“Where did that little child go?”

Her words rang in my head,

She always told me that I had a nice smile,

But that little boy is dead.

He was replaced by his clone,

One Similar in looks, but different everywhere else ,

He couldn’t handle the weight of the world,

He remained silent, while his heart would yell.

His silent pleas for a better life,

One rid of responsibilities.

He wondered what he did to deserve,

A life with sorrow as far as the eye could see.

His demeanour changed day by day,

A shadow of the person he once was,

Always second guessing his abilities,

Always thinking he was full of flaws.

It wasn’t his fault you see,

But the fault of those who raised him.

They beat, hurt and tortured him,

And acted like everything he did was a sin.

He thought it was normal,

He thought it was a-okay,

To be hurt by his parents-

There was nothing he could say.

No one he could turn to,

No one he could trust.

No one that would look at him while he cried,

And tell him that he wasn’t making a fuss.

That little child disappeared

Because of the ill environment he found himself in.

A fate no one should encounter,

A fate that never should have been.

To the person who made him believe he was a monster,

a child undeserving of life.

You projected your feelings onto a helpless child,

You only made his once sad childhood into one full of strife.

you treated him like a dog,

in your so-called attempts of trying to cope.

You made him know the vice of humanity.

You made him lose the ability to trust in love and hope.
