This Place is Strange

We tell each other everything and nothing at all

And when we do end up telling something from a place of trust

That trust seems to mean nothing to them

This place is strange

For years I have nurtured a fox thinking it was a sheep

Now look at where that got me

Everyone is pointing their fingers at me

“You should’ve known better, Bhavitha!”

I was still a kid then, what did you expect of me?

To not make any mistakes?

This place is strange

All the people who I thought would be by my side for a lifetime

Are walking away

Its all like a domino

One thing leads to another

And I lose everyone for the one mistake I made

If no one will give me grace, then I will give it to myself

If you can’t forgive me, then I will forgive myself

I will hold myself accountable for my mistakes

You can hate me all you want

But I’ll never make you hate myself.
