ଏ ଅନ୍ଧାର ସେତିକି ଗାଢ଼

ଯେତିକିରେ ଚେହେରା ଦେଖି ହୁଏ

କିନ୍ତୁ ଆଇନା ଦେଖି ହୁଏନି

ଯେତିକିରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଲିଭିଯାଏ

କିନ୍ତୁ ଜହ୍ନ ଲୋଡ଼ା ହୁଏନି

ଠିକ୍ ସେତିକି ଗାଢ଼,

ଯେତିକିରେ ପାପ କରିହୁଏ

ହାତ ଧୋଇ ହୁଏନି । 

ଏ ଅନ୍ଧାର ସେତିକି କଳା

ଯେଉଁଥିରେ ଗାର ଟାଣି ହୁଏ 

କିନ୍ତୁ ଦାଗ ଦେଖା ଯାଏନି

ଯେଉଁଥିରେ ଆଖି ଯୋଡ଼େ ଥାଏ 

ମନ ପଢ଼ି ହୁଏନି । 

ଏ ଅନ୍ଧାର ସେତିକି ସହରୀ

ଯେତିକି ଗାଁ ପାରି ହେଲେ 

ମନକୁ ଭିଡ଼େ 

ଏ ଅନ୍ଧାର ସେତିକି ଗାଉଁଲି

ଯେତିକି ଭାଗ ନାଛିଡ଼ିଲେ ମାଆକୁ ବାଢ଼େ । 


Translation in English


 

This darkness !

As deep as to see faces,

but the mirror. 

As deep as to erase the Sun,

but the moon to long for. 

As deep as to sin

but to wash it off, Dear. 

This darkness ! 

As black as to paint 

but to see to spot.

As black as to carry a pair of eyes

but to read the heart. 

This darkness ! 

As urban as that tugs the heart 

leaving behind the village.

This darkness ! 

As rural as that is served to “Maa” 

when it’s not divisible.
