Thirsty Chinar
By Muzaffar Ahmad Nengroo
The Sun was gazing, blazing bright,
We the Comrades were on usual freight.
Musing and chatting by the Canal side,
Humming within Nature and summer’s pride.
I was flowing with the blue hued flow,
Of the Cold Canal, reflecting the Sun’s glow.
Opposite of me was sitting my fellow,
Enjoying leisurely, void of any mellow.
The cold silent blue water’s dance,
Underneath the mighty Chinar’s glance.
The Sturdy feeble boughs waving in stance,
The leaves were caressing it in advance.
As if whispering the Canal’s silent rumble,
We bloom together in the April’s tumble.
Softly caressing the surface with jolly fumble,
The mighty shade was musing with the Canal’s grumble,
The whole scene was subtle and soothing,
To the incorporeal eyes and soul’s feeling,
All this charm was soulful in bearing,
Pregnant with eternal bliss as Nature’s blessing.
Note: I was with my friends who were going to take bath in a cold canal. There was a big chinar tree whose branches were waving with the breeze and were touching the water surface in an up and down movement.
