They Don't Get Our Inherited Brains

The things that I have noticed

Now that I am older.

The subtle lies you told me

To try to keep me away.

The dominance we all knew I had

As I grew.

The sick thrill that boils my blood

As you beg me to step back.

Oh lie to me mother,

Lie and tell me you're not afraid

Of this monster that was once part of you.

Oh, lie to me brother,

Lie and pretend this isn’t your fault

When you share my disgusting desires.

Oh, lie to me sister,

Lie and act like I'm not insane

When you watch the flames lick up

My hands and listen to my laugh.

Oh, lie to me father,

Lie and tell me that shot gun

Wasn't aimed at my head.
