They Aren't Coming Back

Time flies,

so does my age

and never turning back.

Their backs, facing me,

with quiet determination

as if they've made some kind of pact together.

As though to fulfill an unending New Year resolution,

marching forward without stopping

toward the destiny unknown to us.

But they aren't coming back,

never again.

Time and age,

they only move forward.

Never backward.
