these hands, they speak louder than my voice

by acid

i seem to write most beautifully

when wrath seethes deep

in the inferno of my soul,

when death sits near me

and offers his hand

as a peace offering

to the wars inside my mind,

when paranoia and anxiety

pour me a drink or two,

when all i can be is a bystander—

sat on the floor witnessing

the stage of my sins and truths.

“and so who are you, asid?”

“numbness,

my soul is numb to happiness,”

i speak so eloquently

in the language of devastation,

that i stutter pathetically

when i see hope knocking on my door.

my knees— weakened, as i stumble to reach

for the knob.

“shall we leave now?”

“n-no, not yet,”

for i am not ready—

my soul screams to stay in this makeshift wreckage of a home i built with my own bloody hands.

for i am not ready to flee from this cycle of pain i found solace in,

for i have fallen too deep— so deep

that i have raised

thick high walls circling me.

but beyond these walls are comfort and joy,

beyond these depths

are laughters and safety i have longed for.

souls who await—

their warm loving arms,

words that light up

the dark entrance of my heart.

my hands grip tightly on the knob, and softly,

i whisper—

“let us break the cycle now.”
