The Young Boy and the Sage

Once a boy met a Sage,

Who was old and bent with age,

Told him, “I want to become great!”

“Help me Sir, I’d appreciate.”

The Sage looked up and said with a grin,

“Greatness is something that lies within,

It is a spark that needs to glow,

Open up and let it show”.

“Every soul is great, it’s true,

Discover the one that’s present in you!

Remember that Character makes a Man,

Build it up as best as you can!”

“For morals now, we care the least,

But without them, Man becomes a beast,

For a fruitful life, follow this advice,

Distinguish between virtue and vice”

“Lies uttered for momentary gain,

Give you nothing but sorrow and pain,

Don’t keep a grudge, to forget is fine,

To err is human, but to forgive, divine.”

“Care for every creature under the sun,

Have love for everyone, hatred for none,

Don’t let temptations take your hold,

All that glitters is not gold.”

“Serve fellowmen without any greed,

Pay no heed to caste or creed,

There are a few things, keep in mind,

Greatness within self, you will find!”
