The World Around Me

When I look at the world around me,

I get scared.

The kind of fear that wraps itself around your core,

Choking out any sense of peace.

Peace, that word seems a cruel joke.

Wars rage all around us.

Our neighbours to the South

Are on the brink of a Civil War.

The distance between the haves and have nots

Grows larger everyday.

It is now a deep chasm.

One wonders if it will ever be bridged?

In my own country, there is struggle.

Some of our own leaders are out to get those they tend.

Taking away what’s rightfully ours.

Fear mongering has become the norm.

Certain leaders only spout what they feel is broken.

Fact checking them is a joke.

It’s sad that we even NEED to fact check them.

Lies and propaganda is all they spew.

Canada is broken! What they claim.

Unfortunately, it was them who broke us.

We have been picking up the pieces that’s strewn about

For a decade now.

Progress has been made,

Progress will continue to be made,

As long as we don’t give up,

Or in.
