The Woes of The Unseen

By Ephrem Benny

An unquenchable thirst for wantedness,

An insatiable hunger for love,

So obscure, I'm unseen, I mused;

Like a ghost, unnoticed, as unseen as smoke in the air.

Rapports, fleeting, never static,

As I, my presence, found or not,

Barely ever makes any distinction.

Like Zephyr's soft caress to some,

Like a belligerent wind to others,

But no matter, neither finds me worthy of care.

Inexplicable emotions, running rampant,

Unanswered questions, ever so despondent,

Is it too much, this seeking for love?

An unfamiliar ache,

A feeling long forgotten,

A hopeful wish, one to be wrapped by it,

Like a blanket, soft and enfolding, that billows me,

Waiting in patience, for fate to grant me peace.
