The Wisdom Of The Ages

Updated: Feb 10

By Sneha Dsouza

Loneliness deems people small and frail,

Defenceless against the onslaught of life’s miseries,

But they forget the quiet strength, lying dormant,

devoid of warmth and human touch,

hidden in pores unopened and unseen

That, once the sun smiles, they become something more, evolving gloriously;

their aura as radiant as the river’s glow

Elegant and poised beyond compare

heart following their thoughts, thoughts following their heart;

affecting blades of grass with the power of the mind

river water exploding, falling, glistening like rainbow drops

breaking through the haze, enduring, rushing tirelessly ahead

splintering everything in its wake, methodically,

a desire to devour everything in its path,

but as gently as the moonlight’s touch upon a breeze

Leaving all unstirred, letting everything come and go:

The wind rising unbidden in the forest, traversing lands near and far,

witnessing the wise

sitting beneath an old oak, gleaning the wisdom of ages

the zephyr wafting gently, carrying the fragrance of flowers unknown

to a place that one can call one’s own

a place of tranquillity; both inner and outer serenity,

a land of profundity.
