The Weight Of Small Questions

Last night we lingered in soft hours,

dreaming of youth we just departed from.

Early twenties, yet we felt so aged,

our laughter aching with quiet reflections.

Someone posed a question, sharp and strange:

What if the past beckoned while love stands?

What if a crush asked for a moment,

while your present holds everything you wish?

One friend answered with a wry smirk:

Do not leave a house for a hotel.

Do not trade permanence for fleeting sparks.

We all fell silent, the night exhaling.

It sat there, heavy in the still air,

a truth too simple, too vast to dispute.

Our hearts are such fickle, restless planets,

orbiting only until warmth fades away.

And yet, shouldn't love be the anchor,

binding us not by limits, but by choice?

Last night we spoke as if we were wiser,

yet we knew nothing, only shadows of knowing.
