The Wait

Far....under the street light she sat.

The rain poured on her,

so did the darkness.

But she sat there, under the street light

waiting....and waiting

watching hours pass by.

The street light flickered...

her will to wait didn't .

She was adamant.

Waiting again....

What was she waiting for??

Her drenched figure leaned on the bench

Does she know,wait is futile??

She became restless....but waited.

The rain drizzled ...to stop.

Nothing waited for her,

not the street light

not the rain

not the world

not anything!

But she waited....

waited for serenity.

Gently she stood up... failure lingering,

walked away dripping wet.

Yes....she waited for 'nothing'.
