The Victor of Austerlitz

By Pranit Verma

From Corsica’s verdant countryside,

a French victor was to rise.

A young brigadier-general had been vivified,

to fight hidebound practices, he’d strive.

As he rode through the flaming battlefield,

a great deal of damage he would yield.

There, his eyes showed an infernal gaze,

leaving most of Europe dazed.

From regal sycophants, he dared to be free,

fierce was his will to fight for truth and liberty.

With his marvellous steed,

he was feared by foes, regardless of creed.

However, not all was right; his crown soon fell,

but that didn’t ring his courage’s knell.

Many a brave path he trod,

while most others in obedience nod.
