The Velevt Secret

To you, my secret self I will slowly surrender,

Open the closed drawers, if you are patient and tender.

I will bring out,

People, things, sounds, and smells,

Hopes, sadness, frustration, unending love that quells.

If you regard them lightly, deny their relevance,

Then I will wrap them and seal their substance.

Sigh will I take and pack them in a velvet case.

I’m just a writer until my words fall in love with you.

My poetry captures your essence,

Maybe in a parallel realm we will be together, yes, we do.
