The Unwanted Peace

By Ayush Kumawat

They saw plains

I saw an empty land with blood stains

They saw hills

I saw beheaded people that got killed

War wasn't an option it was the only way

Burial grounds filled with bodies like stacks of hay

The sonority of steel blades

The screams of people during the raids

Where kids keep crying

Beside their dead mother lying

Where men were pulled into the war

Only for their descendants to tell their lore

It happened because of someone's empty pride

Someone's right to life got denied

If everyone is scared of death and everyone wants to live

Then who is fighting for their pride

Life isn't fair anyway

The one who survives will stay
